Hello world!
I started working on this software about a year ago after a fit of frustration caused by how seemingly difficult it was to just record a simple speed-painting video.
finding the required software was hard enough, add to that editing and rendering the videos, which took ages since I was working on comic pages and speeding up 8 hours of video meant that the editor would constantly crash–It was hell. Why couldn’t I just record the whole video already sped-up? Surely, there’s ought to be some sort of timelapse recording software out there!
At the time, my research only brought up a couple of programs that either didn’t work on my system or created the timelapse by taking screenshots, which meant I still needed to make a video out of them and it was still a lot of extra work, seemingly for no reason at all.
So I set out to make this little piece of software, now called Caffeinated Recorder. A small screen recorder in which you can preset a desired time multiplier and the video will be created already sped-up so you can just upload it to YouTube as soon as you’re done recording. Pretty handy!
I abandoned the project pretty quickly, but a close friend of mine who’s been using it all this time kept telling me it was very useful for him and that I should work on it again. Well, alright then! I asked around and there seems to be quite some interest in it, so here we are!

This is the first release of the program, version 0.4.0 alpha, meaning this is alpha software in early development. So issues might be expected.
If people seem to like it, I’ll try to work on it more from time to time. I have a bunch of features that I’ll like to add, but time is not on my side on this one. Most of my free-time is already consumed by my webcomic project.
This software is free and I’ll never charge for it, but if it was helpful to you, please consider sharing it with someone who might find it useful.
